A Great Loss

"When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his
country, he can rest in peace." --Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela's courage and selflessness helped make him one of the world's few transformational figures of recent times. Madiba, as he was affectionately called, let go of personal resentment and promoted true forgiveness to achieve a peaceful transition many did not think possible. He defied the odds, broke down barriers, and ushered into his country, in Lincoln's words, a new birth of freedom.  His moral leadership was made possible by his character, compassion, and perseverance. Nelson Mandela unquestionably performed his duty to his people and his country.  Job well done; rest in peace.
