I'm Trent Franks, and I'm writing to you about Frank Scaturro, who is running for Congress in your District – the Fourth District of New York, whose primary is June 24^th - just a few days away.

I am blessed to have served in Congress for 12 years, where I have a 100% Heritage Action Scorecard, a 100% Club for Growth Rating, and am consistently ranked as one of the most conservative members of Congress. I say this not to impress you, but so you believe me when I tell you Frank Scaturro is a life-long, hard-working, Constitutional, solid, conservative Republican in the truest sense.

Recently, his Republican opponent, a tax-hiking former Nassau County legislator named Bruce Blakeman, has fraudulently labeled Frank “an Arlen Specter liberal" in what I can only describe as a piece of propaganda large enough and so big a lie as to make Bill Clinton blush. 

I don’t know Bruce Blakeman, but I do know Frank Scaturro.  Frank has a long record of service to this country and to the State of New York for which conservatives in the Fourth District can be proud and thankful. In addition to Frank's extensive service to his community, he's been a professor at Hofstra University teaching Constitutional law. Anyone who has worked alongside Frank, or who has had the pleasure of knowing him personally, know's he is committed to conservative principles. Fact.  End of story.

In reference to these dishonest attack ads: As someone who has seen the effects these negative ads have on busy Americans, who only want to make an informed choice - I want to set the record straight, so let me be clear:

These claims that Frank Scaturro is some sort of liberal merely because he worked alongside many Republicans, including Arlen Specter - before Mr. Specter switched parties - is so ridiculous that Mr. Blakeman and his campaign manager should be laughed back to wherever they came from. The attack is recycled and predictable – and comes from desperate political hacks who have nothing else to run on except personally destructive assaults. Add to this that Mr. Blakeman is a social liberal who has financially supported several liberal Democrats like Eliot Spitzer, Anthony Weiner, and Kathleen Rice, and that he personally donated to Mr. Specter after he switched parties and you have to wonder how long he thinks he can get away with imitating a true conservative.

Strong conservatives including Senator Tom Coburn, who says Frank "displays a sincere commitment to conservative principles," have vouched for him against these attacks.  Conservative groups like the Eagle Forum have endorsed him. 

CONCLUSION: The 2014 elections will be the most critical in the recent history of our nation. Not since WWII have we faced such a precarious tipping point in the future direction our country may head.

President Obama and his enablers in Congress have pushed us to the breaking point. These irresponsible policies and actions must be stopped and our country returned to the rock-solid principles it was founded on, or we face an unthinkable consequence.

It comes down to a choice: Do we proceed with massive deficit spending, regulation, and debt; socialized takeover of industry by government; and a denial of Americans’ constitutional rights? Or do we stop these politicians from spending, lying, and cheating our children and grandchildren out of their chance at the American dream?

You know the answer.

Now: Who is the right choice for the Fourth District? The answer is Frank Scaturro – the only true constitutional conservative Republican in the race. June 24^th in the Republican primary, Fourth District.
